The City of Kalamata, Greece, hosts a Spectacular DanceSport Festival
Tenda Sport and Cultural Hall, Kalamata, 15-16 November 2025. The picturesque coastal town of Kalamata welcomed the past weekend an impressive gathering of DanceSport athletes, with 863 athletes, over 2,500 entries representing 7 countries. Over the course of two days of competition, the event attracted approximately 1,500 spectators, who enjoyed a vibrant program of competitions, performances, and gala moments. Enthusiasts of the DanceSport community had the opportunity to follow the event live on streaming through Live Streaming and the local TV station BEST TV Καλαμάτα.
Where Rhythm Reached Its Zenith:
The Grand Finale of the 7th Kalamata Dance Cup 2025
Kalamata, Greece – November 16, 2025 – The 7th International Kalamata Dance Cup (KDC) concluded its two-day spectacle with a breathtaking Grand Finale, solidifying the city's status as a global dance capital. The atmosphere inside the 'TENTA' Cultural Hall was electric, a pulsing heart of passion, precision, and world-class artistry, as champions were crowned in the diverse array of categories.
The final day, Sunday, November 16th, was a thrilling showcase of innovation and sheer physical poetry, featuring the Modern, Contemporary, Hip Hop, and Break Dance competitions, as well as the prestigious Greek Open Championship by CSIT.

CSIT Greek Open Latin Championship: Italian Fire Takes the Crown
The battle for the CSIT Greek Open Champions title in the Latin American style proved to be one of the most intense and dazzling events of the 7th Kalamata Dance Cup 2025. With six exceptional international and local couples reaching the final, the stage was set for a thrilling showdown of Cha-Cha-Cha, Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble, and Jive.
Ultimately, the Italian pair Giovanni Pisacane & Loretta Pezzoli of Team Diablo, Molinella, captivated the judges and audience alike, securing the prestigious CSIT Greek Open Champions title. Their explosive energy, immaculate timing, and undeniable chemistry were on full display, earning them the gold medal.

A Strong Showing for Greek Talent
The vibrant Greek dance scene was proudly represented in the final, with two Athenian couples from the ROYAL DANCE TEAM making a powerful impact against the international competitors:
- Alexandros Mamasoulas & Freideriki Kontou secured a highly respectable 4th place.
- Andreas Zouanos & Marilena Katsika finished in 5th place.
Their fantastic performance in the final round confirms the rising standard and dedication of Greek dancers on the international stage. The final standing was completed by the Slovenian pair, Alex Devetak & Cristina Furlan (ASD Movartex), who finished 6th, completing a truly memorable and diverse final lineup.

The future of DanceSport was on full display in one of the highly anticipated finals at the 7th Kalamata Dance Cup 2025. The precision, speed, and elegance of the young competitors demonstrated the depth of talent emerging across Europe.

Emerging as the indisputable champions were Luca Miclausig & Giulia Lanari from ASD Movartex, Gorizia (Italy). The pair delivered a breathtaking masterclass across all five Latin dances, combining raw power with polished artistry. KDC Competition Levels and Classifications
Competitive Ballroom Dancing Levels
“E” Class (Beginner)
- Standard Program: English Waltz, Tango, Quickstep;
- Latin Program: Cha-cha-cha, Rumba, Jive.
“D” Class (Novice)
- Standard Program: English Waltz, Tango, Slow Foxtrot, Quickstep;
- Latin Program: Cha-cha-cha, Samba, Rumba, Jive;
“C” Class (Advanced),
“B” Class (Intermediate),
“A” Class (Pre-Championship),
“S” Class (Championship)
- Standard Program: all dances;
- Latin Program: all dances.
- Single Dance - when the results are determined for every single dance. For example, in this case, a couple can get first place for dancing the Waltz and third place for dancing the Foxtrot. There is no total score or total place.
- Scholarship or Championship. In this case, there is a fixed list of dances that all the dancers must perform and gain a score for each dance. In the end, all the scores are summed up, and the result determines the final rank of the couple. Usually, the list complies with the well-known classification and is equal to the International Program (Standard and Latin) or the American Program (Smooth and Rhythm).
- Formation. It’s a team performance (more than two dancers), either with Standard (Smooth) or Latin (Rhythm) dances.
- Classic Show. It’s a dance show performance with two partners according to the Standard (Smooth) Program. Usually it’s a creative performance that may have some extra dance moves or special dress.
- Latin Show. It’s like a Classic Show, but for the Latin (Rhythm) Program. The dancers can usually also add some unique creative elements or have a special scenario of the dance.
