A musical is built upon the collaborative genius of a team, typically including a composer (who writes the music), a lyricist (who writes the words to the songs), and a book writer or librettist (who writes the script, or "book").4 The final production is brought to life by a director, choreographer, and designers.

In these competitions, each Pro-Am couple must dance all three ( or 5 ) dances of that particular eventThe 3 or 5-Dance Open Scholarship is the highest level of Pro-Am competition.
